Standard private utility designating is often inaccurate with no precision approach which leads to potential for high liability utility strikes which can damage property and delay jobs indefinitely.
Sometimes you wait for hours before a crew arrives while thousands of dollars in equipment and manpower stand by.
When utility lines are in close proximity to one another and in a small area inexperienced crews can spend an unnecessary amount of time causing overages in cost and delays in starting of your project.
Our designating/locating team are industry veterans who provide precision marking with multiple technologies to provide accurate marks and quick and efficient test holes.

The NoVa lining process for Utility designating and Locating services
The right way to do utility designating
1.Experienced vetran technicians with an intimate knowledge of the equipment being utilized
- At Nova we have minimum requirements on our utility designating team. All our designaters have minimum od 5 years plus experience
- All our designaters have minimum od 5 years plus experience.
- Trainees are always accompanied by a senior locating technician.
- Has a camera inspection been performed and if so can you provide us a copy of the video?
- Once we have requested this information, we will then schedule a full assessment.
2.estimate visit with camera investigation with pipe assessment initial video
- This is $350 investigation (note, we are always willing to share those videos for free)
- - we identify where exactly the pipe(s) run
- - how to access the pipe
- - if possible the current condition
- - any major issues with roots, offset joints (where pipes are separating), tuberculation (iron cast pipes rusting inwards and mineral deposits)
- - initial fact finding and probable approach discussed.
3. We present you your options
- we make a proposal where you get your options to renew your sewer on paper
- including trade offs between only cleaning now and price difference for lining
3A. We potentially add clean out points
- - (give description of a trenchless clean out point, = secondary access point outside the home so that all work can be done from one access point outside the home) <picture + link to service point>
3B. We potentially potential clean out / air excavation
- if due to debris or obstruction the interior access insufficient (tees into mainline, too many terms, limited access for the equipment...
3C. We potential perform a second assessment 'can we do lining' - with 2nd video
- potential second assessment 'can we do lining' - with 2nd video
- now that the pipe is clean we can do final assessment on how to continue
- remember in 19% of the cases the pipes can be so damaged that we need to excavate some, or all of the line. Sadly we can not line a collapsed section and in that case will have to dig it up.
3D. Based on this second assessment we present you options
- lining or, in X% of the cases, excavation, or pipe bursting (explain)
- link to video where excavation vs. pipe bursting is explained (note, we strongly prefer to avoid this situation but have a sister company that can do this, we would manage it for your ease).
- if so we do a requote for the trenching or pipe bursting
4. We do the work (see service + image)
- this includes the sticker to prevent plumbers from damaging the lining later on
- 3rd in pipe video after lining
- quality control to see if everything looks alright, we share this video
5. Final paperwork and Invoice
- this includes our warranty, final video
